Main Purpose of Job: To teach, review, monitor and assess learners on the early years traineeship programme to enable them to achieve their qualification

Hours: 18 hours per week over 3 / 4 days (flexible)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that the trainees receive the appropriate teaching, assessment and support to enable them to gain their award

  • To ensure that the Head is informed of any learner that is not keeping up to date with their assessment plans

  • To maintain all related documentation, including assessment paperwork, course records, lesson plans, etc.

  • To keep up to date with awarding body requirements and to ensure that the awarding body requirements are met

  • To maintain up-to-date records and documentation as required by the awarding body

  • To participate in meetings and standardisation exercises

  • To work with the Nursery Manager and Nursery Co-ordinators to ensure consistency in both the practical and theoretical side of the training

  • To keep abreast of early childhood issues and attend training as required

  • To provide a good role model for trainees to promote high standards of professional practice

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Person Specification

Essential

  • An appropriate Early Years qualification

  • Recent and relevant experience of early years practice

  • An appropriate Assessor qualification

  • An Adult/Further Education teaching qualification and/or relevant experience of teaching young people/adults

  • Good up to date knowledge and understanding of early years practice and child development

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral

  • An ability to relate to young people/adults of all ages

  • Good organisation skills

  • A commitment to their own professional development

  • A commitment to the development of high standards of professional practice in Early Years

  • Good IT skills
