Charity Volunteer Coordinator
Working for a local charity you will be responsible for helping to source and recruit volunteers for all events, along with providing admin support to make sure that all our supporters are made to feel welcomed and cared for by the charity, and above all appreciated.
You will be responsible for the following:
Managing volunteer adverts and promotions, ensuring they are live and up to date at volunteer centres, universities and the many organisations that are used.
Responding to queries from new and existing volunteers via email and by phone.
Keeping frequent communications with previous volunteers by phone and email to encourage their continued support.
Contacting organisations who have previously provided groups of volunteers to re-establish the relationship and encourage them to do so again.
Seeking alternative cost effective methods of attracting volunteers to events.
Assisting the Support Team with the volunteer enrolment process, ensuring all tasks are completed promptly and accurately.
Taking responsibility for key volunteer checks, ensuring that all documentation is received in good time.
Production and preparation of pre event volunteer materials including documents, maps, signage and other materials as required for each event.
The Volunteer Co-ordinator will be part of the team that sets up and runs the Volunteer Tent at the events and will take responsibility for the deployment of all volunteers across the events.
The role is suited to someone that has a keen interest in a career in the Event Industry and has strong administrative ability, and a passion to be involved with people wanting to make a difference. You will have the following skills and experience:
A strong administration background with intermediate to advanced MS Office Skills
Confident on the telephone
Previous involvement of working with volunteers, or have personal volunteering experience.
Experience of working within the charity sector.
Experience of working within an event team.
An interest and in fitness and health.
Excellent communication skills on all levels, written and verbal.
Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organisational skills.
Flexibility, particularly in events season.
